SMALL WOMAN, GREEN & BLUE
In an ongoing quest for authenticity of craft and invention as an expression of the highest savoir-faire, CrystaSeya collaborates with renowned ceramist Giacomo Alessi to create a unique edition of Testa Di Moro vases.
Giacomo Alessi is a true master of the art. Alessi has been featured in some of the most important international ceramics exhibitions as well as the 54th Venice Art Biennale. Furthermore, he has been appointed Knight of the Italian Republic in 2007 and included by UNESCO in the book of Living Human Treasures.
Testa Di Moro is one of the most traditional pot forms for the Calragirone ceramics. It's believed to have Arabic roots: a disfranchised lover kept her beloved close to her, after killing him, turning his head into a luxuriant pot. Giovanni Boccaccio famously reinterpreted the legend in the Lisabetta da Messina novel.
In the Giacomo Alessi + CristaSeya interpretation, the head has been turned upside down: the pot is now the neck. A simple, quick gesture that effortlessly generates displacement and surprise.
